🔒 Your video never leaves your phone

Analysis runs entirely on your device. Only the result (speed, confidence, trajectory and first frame) is uploaded — and only with your consent. On slow devices you can opt into server analysis; the video is deleted right after.

Honest accuracy

BallSpeed is not a radar gun and makes no absolute-accuracy claim. Because everyone is measured the same way, rankings are fair and you can track your own progress consistently.

Frequently asked questions

How does BallSpeed measure ball speed?

It analyzes your slow-motion video frame by frame: it tracks the ball, derives the pixel-to-metre scale from the reference distance you mark, and computes speed over the fastest segment. All of this happens on your phone, on-device.

Is my video uploaded to a server?

No. By default analysis runs entirely on your device and the video never leaves your phone. Only the result (speed, confidence, trajectory, first frame) is sent, and only with your consent.

How accurate is it?

BallSpeed is not a radar gun and makes no absolute-accuracy claim. Because everyone is measured with the same algorithm, rankings are fair; the goal is consistency and relative comparison.

What frame rate (fps) should I record at?

For the best result, record in slow-motion at 120–240 fps. Below 60 fps, motion blur makes the result less stable.

Which sports are supported?

Football (shot), tennis (serve) and volleyball (spike). Each has realistic speed leagues and preset calibration distances.

Do I need to install an app?

No. BallSpeed is a web app (PWA); it runs in your browser and you can add it to your home screen. No App Store or Google Play required.

Is it free?

Yes, BallSpeed is free. There are no payments or subscriptions.

Can children use it?

Yes, but accounts under the age threshold require parental email consent; public sharing and leaderboards stay off until approved.

How do I share my result?

Every measurement produces a share card with a QR code and a link. You can send a friend a "beat me" challenge.
